Espresso (Linarco Rodriguez)

For our first ever espresso selection we went with Axil’s Natural Colombian Geisha from Linarco Rodriguez.

Working for Axil in the past, it was hard to ignore this geisha especially because I always thought that espresso is the highlight of Axil’s coffee menu. This natural geisha has good body, lots of sweetness and is quite rich. It is easy to extract, sourced ethically, and most importantly super tasty. Quality controlled by World Barista Champion, Anthony Douglas, this is one the better single origin offerings this year by Axil.

In the cup I found tasting notes of Blackberry, Strawberry, Lychee, and Dark Chocolate

Roaster’s Remarks

This coffee was grown by Linarco Rodriguez at the farm El Diviso. It was carefully hand-picked to select only the ripest cherries and then hand-sorted to remove defects. The coffee was sundried on raised beds in temperature-controlled conditions until the ideal moisture content was achieved. This micro-lot is 100% Gesha, first planted in Colombia in 2005. The growing conditions combined with the processes have created a complex flavour profile. We tasted blackberry tartness, Turkish delight's floral sweetness, rich raisins, and the deep undertones of dark chocolate.”
